Photographer Lucas Foglia was inspired to photograph climate scientists doing the hard work of measuring our world after Hurricane Sandy slammed into his farm on Long Island, NY in 2012. He followed scientists in Colorado, Hawaii, and Alaska as they use their instruments to study the atmosphere, glaciers, temperatures, and more.

The photographs appear in Lucas Foglia’s series, Human Nature, now on display in the Fredericks Freiser Gallery in NY.

The New York Times has created a photo essay with more of Lucas’ photos of climate scientists. You can learn more about Lucas Foglia’s work, at his web site.
