Shane Koyczan is an award-winning Canadian poet and performance artist. From his most recent book/album of poetry, A Bruise on Light, comes “Shoulders”:
this one world is all we get
there will be no reset button
no new operating system
or downloadable upgrade
we will not be allowed
to trade in our old world for a new one
with climate control
or better fuel efficiency
we get one shot at this
Every poem in A Bruise on Light is powerful, and this one especially resonates with a message about the preciousness of our home, Earth. If you love poetry, performance, and art, be prepared to be moved by his poem.

Shane is playing August 5 at the Triple Door in Seattle. We’ll be there!

A video for “Shoulders” is included after the jump.
