Matthew Burtner placed 19 microphones at the foot of the Matanuska Glacier near Anchorage, Alaska to record the sounds of the melting ice. He stretched the time of the glacier sounds, and accompanied the sound with other music to create his piece “Sonic Physiography of a Time-Stretched Glacier”.

His work has been featured by the US Department of State’s Conference on Global Leadership in the Arctic as part of former President Obama’s climate change initiative.
