The Natural History Museum Wildlife Photographer of the Year (2015) winner is Don Gutoski, an amateur photographer from Canada. His photograph, titled “A Tale of Two Foxes”, shows a red fox carrying the carcass of an arctic fox it has killed.

This photograph has a climate change story to go with it. As the Arctic warms, red foxes and arctic foxes are competing directly for dwindling resources as rising temperatures and shifting habitats change where they hunt, moving red foxes north towards arctic fox territory. It is likely that the two kinds of foxes will come into conflict a lot more often in the future.
