Today’s climate change-inspired art is a one-man play written by George Shea and acted by Mike Farrell. Mr. Shea, a well-known playwright and author, and Mr. Farrell, a well-known actor, are both long-time social justice and environmental activists.

The play, Dr. Keeling’s Curve, is about the Keeling Curve, a measure of the amount of CO2 in our atmosphere. The curve is named after Dr. Charles David Keeling who discovered the rise in CO2 caused by industrial civilization during his work with the Scripps Institution of Oceanography in Hawaii in the 1950’s.

We haven’t seen the entire play, but from the preview it looks both funny and informative. We need more works like this to help make the difficult topic of climate change more accessible to everyone.

Island Theatre will be performing a climate change-inspired play during Earth Art Bainbridge April 2016. Not sure which one yet, but we’ll keep you posted! In the meantime, enjoy this preview of Dr. Keeling’s Curve.
