Gideon Mendel travels the world taking photographs of those impacted by floods. His work explores the personal impact of climate change, as sea levels rise, and as flooding worsens.

For every 1C degree warmer our atmosphere becomes, it holds an additional 5% water. That 5% additional water translates into heavier downpours and stronger storms. We have seen the effects most recently in Texas and France, which each received record rainfall amounts in very short periods of time, which caused tremendous flooding and damage.

Gideon Mendel’s photographs and videos focus on the people impacted by these floods, and the damage to their personal belongings, including their memories held in photographs, destroyed by water.
